Education and training 16-18

What next — life after Year 11

Look at all the choices and how they fit in with your career plans. After Year 11 you must now stay in learning until your 18th birthday. Your main choices are:

  • a full-time course
  • an apprenticeship or traineeship
  • a part-time course and voluntary work
  • job with recognised training.

You may have to apply in December or January where there is a lot of competition at popular schools, colleges or training providers, so you need to start thinking about your choices early in Year 11.

The Sixth Form and College Enrolment Bulletin is published every year and lists open events at sixth forms and further education colleges for young people from Central London. Please check event times and dates before attending as they can be subject to change, contact details are listed in the bulletin.
