Sexual Health Services for Young People with SEND

Sexual Health Services for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged up to 25 years of age are provided through a number of Young People’s Sexual Health Clinics based within the Islington area.

These sexual health services can be contacted directly by a young person or by their carer, a family member, advocate or professionals.

After you make contact with one of these Sexual Health Services a professional will screen your request and discuss what happens next.  An appointment may be arranged if necessary.

Please note that these sexual health services will assess whether they can support a Disabled Young Person on a case by cases basis. If they are unable to offer an appointment they can refer the Disabled Young Person to a more suitable sexual health service who can assist.

For Disabled Young people who are likely to require an advocate, a British Sign Language Interpreter or appropriate adult to support them to self-refer or attend an appointment with a Sexual Health Service, it’s important that this support is arranged for them by their Carer, family member or lead professional supporting them. The Young Person’s Mental Capacity may also need to be assessed if they attend a Sexual Health Service and have a significant learning disability or a profound and severe Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) diagnosis.

Sexual Health Services are available through
