King Henry's Walk Adventure Playground
Make sure you’ve got your binoculars and maps handy because we’re going to explore! Get ready to make an award-winning nature documentary of Islington’s very own wildlife. Why not hop on the wooden bus designed by our very own adventurers or sail the seas to your destination? Perhaps you’ll see some newts and toads along the way. Heading for dangerous waters? Then swing to safety, make an emergency zip wire escape through the plum and apple trees, or use the climbing wall to clamber out of harm’s way… And try not to take a wrong turn in the maze!
If all that’s got you feeling a bit exhausted, sit down in front of the campfire and make some pizza or jungle toast.
Play is free for six to thirteen-year-olds and supervised by our Awesome playworkers – all you have to do is register and book to have fun. Oh, and King Henry’s Walk Adventure Playground isn’t just for explorers – we have plenty of budding scientists, superheroes, writers, artists, footballers and palaeontologists too!
Our fantastic family play sessions are packed with fun things for the whole family to do. Supported by qualified playworkers, you’ll be introduced to new and exciting play experiences. All sessions are free and open to all families in Islington every Saturday from 11.30pm – 1.30pm during school term time at Barnard, Cornwallis, King Henry’s Walk, Three Corners and Waterside Adventure Playgrounds. There’s no age restriction for children, as long as they’re accompanied by an adult – just be prepared to get messy! #FunComesFirst

Situated on the far east side of Islington King Henry’s Walk Adventure Playground is well-positioned for easy access to Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland Stations which offer quick access into the City or Stratford, whilst also linking through Highbury and Islington and suggested Cross Rail 2 link. King Henry’s Walk features a modernised wooden building with a good-sized rectangular hall and a homely style kitchen. The kitchen is ideal for entertaining, with a shutter-style serving hatch opening into the hall space. The large windows across the front of the hall have shutters for privacy or when open give the hall space a bright open feel. The hall has a great end wall and high ceilings that’s perfect for projecting presentations, films or slideshows.
King Henry’s Walk is an ideal venue to hold your event, whether it’s a training day, band practice, holding a community meeting, workshop, running a fitness class or children’s party.

King Henry’s Walk welcomes guide dogs at the venue and we have a number of portable induction loops that can be transferred between spaces. - How will you support my child?
Inclusion is one of the core values of our Adventure Playgrounds. We work with children, parents/ carers and professionals to assess the individual needs of each child (EHC plan) and work together to ensure every child can access the adventure playgrounds we manage. All activities and play opportunities are inclusive and adapted to suit a child’s needs if necessary. Depending on their needs, we work with parents/carers and professionals to explore how we can access specialist support workers to work 1:1 or 1:4 if needed.
