Islington Somali Community

Islington Somali Community has been supporting Somalis living, working or studying in the London Borough of Islington for over 30 years. They aim to provide a high-quality service that is accessible for all and can meet the ever-changing needs of our community; to work towards harmony and inclusiveness, with the aim of working towards a community where people are in control of their lives and confident in relating to other members of the community. 

Resettlement offer: Islington Somali Community’s projects include: 

  • Providing information and advice on benefits, housing and welfare rights. 

  • They can provide interpreters for hospitals and GPs.  

  • They host drop-in sessions for advice on other issues, a 

  • Running a project for older people and a project for people affected by domestic violence 

  • Running a mother tongue supplementary school at Montem Primary School and provide educational support for older children. 

  • Providing advice and information,  

  • Running employment sessions, elderly project, education for young people and sports
