Local Offer
- How will you support my child?
Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. Our Islington link Area SENCO provides us with support, advice and training regarding children with SEND.
We identify, provide and support children who have special educational needs (SEN). We work closely with local professionals to achieve a very high level of support for those families who need it, ensuring families are involved and informed at every stage, providing them with information and sources of independent advice and support.
Our SENCO has been employed with us since 1998; she has NVQ 3 and a Level 4 in coordinating SEN provision. She has attended various training connected to her post including 'children on the autistic spectrum'; 'language for children with hearing difficulties'; 'exploring child development with children with SEND'; 'managing resources for children with SEND'; 'working with ADHD'; 'working with children with unusual appearances' and 'writing IEPS in the early years'. All of our staff have accessed and continuously use MAKATON and visual aids with all the children. Our SENCO has worked with children with complex needs for over 12 years; two of our staff have worked on paediatric units previously with children with a range of simple and complex needs and varying degrees of medical needs.
Our stay and play and extra classes are fully inclusive, including sing and sign and baby massage. We have good links with our local Children’s Centre, Health Visiting Team and with the Richard Cloudsley team and the area teacher for hearing impairement.
