Communal Boilers

The council’s current policy is that heating provided through communal boilers is turned on in late September and turned off towards the end of May. This ‘heating season’ lasts for 36 weeks per year with heating provided for 18 hours per day between 6am and 12am (midnight). There are some communal boilers which are kept running for 24 hours because they can only provide hot water if the heating is still running. In these cases residents can turn their heating off over the summer so they don’t overheat.
