Cally Clocktower Centre Virtual Tours
An online Zoom presentation on the history and architecture of the Cally Clock Tower.
Explore the impressive Caledonian Park Clock Tower - from the comfort of your home. The 45m tall tower, built in the 1850s, was the centerpiece of the Metropolitan Cattle Market. In this virtual tour you will explore the Clock Tower and its history, floor by floor. Video and archive images will bring the Metropolitan Cattle Market and iconic Cally Market to life. As we climb the clock tower you will get a close look at the enormous turret clock mechanism as well as seeing the clock's four dials from the inside. The top of the tower houses the largest bronze bell in London until Big Ben was hung at the Houses of Parliament and it is from the balcony below the bell that we can enjoy the wonderful view over London thanks to 360 degree panoramic photography. This virtual tour explores some of the 150 years of the tower and is a perfect way to experience some of that history during these Covid restricted times - and you can enjoy the tour without the sweat of climbing 7 step ladders and over 170 steps!
