Age UK provide free information and advice on a range of issues for adults 16 yrs+.  We help people to regain or maintain confidence to live safely and well at home, perhaps after a period of hospitalisation, and offer practical help with essential jobs around the house.

Benefits - Supporting with accessing benefits, help with preparing application (getting docs & understanding forms);

Grants - applications for RSS, Winter Warmth;

Debt - help to identify and contact priority debt organisations, connection to debt management organisations; Putting in place Power of Attorney;

Carers Support - completion of carers assessments, carers support groups, getting a break;

Housing - Finding Domestic Support, help with arranging housing transfers; completing & submitting housing forms;

Health - help to engage with releavant health professionals, finding mental health support, substance abuse support;

Independence - telecare, getting adaptations / mobility aids;

Work - finding training & education, finding volunteering;

Social connections - online Get Togethers, connecting to partner activities & befriending; Let's Talk peer to peer support group

Usual Service: 

We provide free information and advice on a range of issues for adults 16 yrs +.  We help people to regain or maintain confidence to live safely and well at home, perhaps after a period of hospitalisation, and offer practical help with essential jobs around the house.

We encourage and facilitate enjoyable activities for meeting people, providing social ‘Get Togethers’, confidence ­building training, inter-generational initiatives, exercise activities, and opportunities for older people to have their voices heard through our Older People’s Reference Group.

We help people identify their goals and work towards them so depending on their situation we would identify goals (which may include work / employment); readiness including building confidence and resilience, overcoming barriers ie transport / language / anxiety etc. and tackle other issues in their life which may need addressing before they can move forward or identify expert work/employment support services and supporting people to access them

  • Resettlement offer: Age UK can offer practical support around:
    • Opening a bank account.
    • Grants – Applications for RSS, winter warmth.
    • Applying for benefits – Support with accessing benefits, help with preparing application (getting docs & understanding forms).
    • Registering with a GP.
    • Community support- getting to know the borough, meeting people, activities, and employability support.
