Samira Project

The Samira Project is an ending violence against women girls (VAWG) for BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugees) women and girls project funded by Islington Coucnil.

The Samira Project is a partnership between IMECE Women’s Centre, Latin American Women’s Aid (LAWA), Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation (KMEWO) providing advice, information and support to BMAER women in Islington who are experiencing any form of violence against women and girls which can include, but is not restricted to, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, forced marriage, so-called ‘honour’ based violence, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse and female genital mutilation.

We aim to address the immediate safety needs of those women at risk of harm to secure their and their children’s safety with a combination of information, advice, signposting and referrals onto appropriate service which will put them on the path to long term safety.

We provide:

  • Risk assessment and co-produced safety planning
  • Advice and advocacy
  • Referrals and signposting to other appropriate agencies
