Run by St. Luke's Parochial Trust, the centre offers a range of activities to promote the health and quality of life of local people including children and young people. Activities include swimming (at Ironmonger Row baths), dancing (ballroom, old time, modern sequence and line), art, keep fit, singing, table tennis, sewing and gardening. There is also snooker, bingo, cards, darts, TV and a book and video library. For young people there is an after-school learning club, a craft club, samba band, drama, street dancing and ballet and tap classes.
Our UK On-line Centre is open for the public (Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm, depending on activities and Sunday 11am-3pm) simply to drop in and use free of charge and there is no need to register. It is easily accessible being located next to our reception and has 10 simple-to-use PCs with fast internet, full Microsoft software, printer and access to a photocopier.
St. Luke’s PC Pal’s, Digital Inclusion programme is open to people of all ages living in the south Islington area. We have also expanded the programme into other languages including PC Pals Spanish & French. We also organise group activities including our popular Gadget/IT drop-in sessions and our Word & Excel workshops. Booking is essential for this service.
A large number of free advice and individual one-to-one support sessions take place weekly at St Luke's Centre: debt advice, legal advice, welfare benefits advice, Age UK Islington advice, Help on Your Doorstep advisors.
We currently provide a wide range of older persons social and welfare activities as well as accessible transport, day care and meals to almost 1,000 older people locally. We have a qualified Care Support Team who support and encourage all visitors to the community centre. We have daily classes, hairdressing, beauty therapy, outings, parties and computer training. We provide a specialist early dementia day care service. We can provide transport to the centre for older people living locally if needed.
