The Keel Project works with families experiencing domestic violence and abuse who are referred to Safeguarding and Family Support in the usual way via the Children’s Services Contact Team (CSCT). CSCT will ascertain whether the Children’s Social Care or Early Help criteria are met as would be the case for any other referral. If either threshold is met and the additional Keel Project criteria are also met, then the family are allocated to the Keel Project instead of one of the Children’s Social Care or Early Help teams.
The additional Keel Project criteria are:
• At least one child must be aged 10 or under currently
• The family must have had two or more previous assessments around DVA if they are referred at the Children’s Social Care level, or at least one previous contact around DVA if they are referred at the Early Help level
Agencies involved: Safeguarding & Family Support; Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS); Islington Housing; Police; National Probation Service, Solace, Domestic Violence Intervention Project, and Better Lives.
