King Square Community Nursery at Toffee Park Youth Club

The nursery offers opportunities for investigation, choice and expression with a wide range of equipment and activities for learning and play. We also provide weekly sessions of yoga, football and drama, all facilitated by professional outside teachers and free to all children. Forest School is our new project and we have secured 4 seasons with a ranger at Barnsbury Woods. Children and parents  also make visits to Highgate Wood. We extend this weekly by visiting local parks. A day at Epping Forest with all children and parents is being arranged for January.

How will you support my child?

Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. Our Islington link Area SENCO provides us with support, advice and training regarding children with SEND.

Our SENCO has a level 4 qualification and has attended training in SEN changes in assessment and planning, writing individual education plans (IEP), for Early Years, strengthening of gifted and talented provision in Early Years, Solihull, ECAT and E-Caf training. Our SENCO also attends cluster group meetings.

All our staff have accessed PECS Level 1 training.

We have experience of working with several children with severe and complex needs including autism and severe global delay.

We signpost parents to children's centres for Little Leaps and Chatterpillar sessions, along with any other relevant support they may need.

Key persons are given time to support and attend speech and language sessions alongside parents and children.
