Islington businesses with licenses to sell alcohol are strongly encouraged to join one of the borough's pub watch schemes. The aim of Pubwatch is to encourage a safe, secure social drinking environment in all licensed premises and help to reduce drink-related crime.
Licensees from pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes meet every couple of months to discuss common issues. These meetings are supported and attended by licensing officers from the council and representatives from the police. Pubwatch schemes are held in the following areas: Arsenal; Archway; Bunhill; Clerkenwell; Angel/St Mary's; Stroud Green/Finsbury Park; Islington Club Watch (for night clubs).
