ELOP is a thriving lesbian and gay centre based in North East London. ELOP was established around 1995 as a grassroots developed and community-led organisation with the aim to promote the health, wellbeing, empowerment and equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) communities. Since its inception, ELOP has been providing 17 years of varied information, advice, advocacy, counselling and support services, plus social and community activities and events to north and east London’s LGB&T communities. Core frontline services are delivered from the ELOP Centre in Waltham Forest.
We offer a low cost counselling service for individuals, couples and young people where we can offer both short term as well as longer term contracts. ELOP promotes sexual health in a range of formats including non-clinical screening and workshops. We have good links with sexual services and can help individuals access clinical support as needed. ELOP offers a range of social activities in our centre that offer a safe alternative to the gay scene. ELOP offers the only weekly parent, baby & toddler group in London that allows LGB&T parents and carers opportunity to socialise and build networks. ELOP also run a weekly youth group to allow young LGB&T people to meet others and access addition support as relevant. Our centre has a community lounge with pool table, low cost members’ library and range of magazines, board games and snack bar.
In addition to operating direct community frontline services ELOP also delivers second-tier work and provides information, training, consultancy and support to statutory and voluntary sector policy makers, managers, service providers and their staff teams.
