Hilldrop Community Centre

Coronavirus Update

Weekly lunches and free surplus food (term-time only).

Our food hub provides a weekly hot lunch, and a free surplus food stall where clients can pick up fresh produce and everyday essentials.

It is not a crisis service. Participants are regularly monitored on their needs and referred to relevant support services as required. We promote a common sense approach to food surplus and waste, in tackling food poverty, its inequalities, and its environmental impacts.

We help those living in the St George's Ward of Islington, especially families and individuals on restricted budgets and struggling with impacts of COVID19.

Available for collection.

Tuesdays from 12-2pm, term-time only. See our website for up-to-date information.

Usual Service

The Food Hub began as a weekly social drop-in where people could come together, share a meal and get involved in activities, with a focus on reducing waste and advising participants on how to create their own healthy meals on a budget. We hope to bring back more activities during 2021, including ‘family kitchen’ sessions and a food growing project.

Hilldrop Community Centre, located in Tufnell Park in Islington, is a space to bring together local people of all ages and backgrounds. Our usual activities and services include after school and holiday provision for children, under 5s sessions, support groups, creative activities, fitness classes and several community events over the year. We have an ongoing gardening project which welcomes volunteers. We can offer space to hire for parties, meetings, or regular activities. While COVID restrictions remain in place some activities may be suspended or restricted. See our website for up-to-date details.
