Coronavirus update:
In accordance with Government Guidelines, KMEWO had to re-arrange the ways services delivered in order to prioritise both staff and client’s safety. While it is essential to continue providing support services to vulnerable women and girls from the Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African communities in London and Islington. However, all face to face sessions and group activities had to be postponed until further notice.
Alternatively, front line One to One VAWG Advice and Advocacy Support, Counselling therapy and Employability support will be provided over telephone and online, including via video calls. We have made all necessary arrangements to enable staff to provide quality services remotely.

Free tablet scheme
The scheme is for women only. They can be given a free tablet if they meet three of the following criteria:
- Resident in Islington (Haringey and Hackney)
- Identify as BAMER
- Have No Recourse to Public Funds
- Seeking employment
- In receipt of benefits / low income
- Survivor of VAWG

KMEWO’s core services to Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African (KMENA) women living in London are provided FREE in a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and a women only environment. They include: - General advice and information on issues of Welfare benefit and housing. - Specialist advice and advocacy support for survivors of Domestic Abuse and Harmful Traditional Practices. - Confidence building through group therapy, information workshops and outings, mentoring and peer support and volunteering opportunities. - Therapeutic counselling services in several languages including Arabic and Kurdish. - ESOL (1, 2 and 3), IT, Employability skills, Child care and Teaching assistance skills courses. - Advice and support in employability and progression to further education. - Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) helpline and Advice line |
