Parenting with Love and Limits

Parenting with Love and Limits is a programme for parents and carers who are having difficulty controlling the behaviour of their teenage child (age 12-16). This programme offers practical guidance to parents who are trying to change and improve difficult teenage behaviour.

Parenting with Love and Limits is free of charge. 

Length of programme:

A seven step programme.  Six 1.5 to 2 hour long sessions are devoted to the programme and the final session for parents to help them to put into practice the lessons they learn from the group training.   New ONLINE morning and evening groups start February 2024 - see attached programme.   

Who should attend?

This group is for any Islington and Camden resident parent or carer of children aged 12-16 years who is finding their teenager’s behaviour difficult to manage.

Topics covered

· Teenage development and why teenagers misbehave

· Button-pushing and how to remain calm and in control

· Using praise to reinforce responsible teenage behaviour

· Using contracts to set clear boundaries for teenagers

· Creative consequences to help stop extreme behaviour (threats, acts of violence, truancy, alcohol or drug abuse)

· Getting professional help and help from family, friends and neighbours to support parental strategies

· Restoring love between parent and teenager while remaining strong and sticking to the rules.
