Caxton House Community Centre

Caxton House Community Centre is a vibrant community hub based near Archway in the London Borough of Islington. We host a number of weekly activities, including: Under 5s Stay & Play, free Family Legal Advice sessions, and a number of other fitness, education and general weekly sessions.

We offer a number of fitness activities including short mat bowls, pilates, yoga, zumba, gentle exercise, archery, karate, kung fu and ballroom dance.

Our Under 5s Stay & Play is an ideal space for children and parents/carers to socialise, play and meet other families. We also offer access to our Toy Library. 

Our Family Zumba is available for families looking to have fun and get fit!

Resettlement Offer:

As a busy Community Centre, we have a range of activities and services for a range of age groups, including under 5s Stay & Play, activities for older residents, dance and exercise classes for adults, an aerial programme for 13-21 year olds and another for families, support groups for young people with gender issues, as well as a variety of events across the year. We also work with a wide network of partner groups and Hubs and can signpost to additional support, for example, nursery, after school  and youth support, food  banks and mental health and bereavement services.


Community Warm Space Available: Drop-in, refreshments and wrap-around support.

Mondays 1-3pm with Elthorne Pride, hot and cold drinks, cakes and book swap, 1-2-1 energy advice

Monday with additional activity each week as follows:

1st Monday Knitting,

2nd Monday IT Drop-In,

3rd Monday Bingo,

4th Monday Quiz Mondays: from 12.30pm Surplus bread and cakes in reception as available Tuesdays: 10am-3.30pm: Crafts, Sewing Surgeries, book swap, refreshments (& hot food (1-3pm) to be confirmed)

Wednesdays:

9.30am-3.30pm: Tai Chi, Art Class, Short Mat Bowls, book swap, hot drinks (& take away food to be confirmed)

Thursdays:

11am-1pm: Patched Homes workshops, book swap, hot drinks Ad-hoc cost of living items/surplus food available on reception free

We are providing cooking kits for residents to cook simple vegetarian meals. Residents are asked to register and complete a self-referral form and must live in the Hillrise Ward. (Residents living on the Elthorne Estates can access support through Elthorne Pride 0208 017 2205)

We have a telephone befriending service and can signpost to additional services, including to some of the groups located in our building who can provide support for universal credit applications, counselling, employment and training advice, access to digital equipment, financial advice and support.

Offering support to senior and vulnerable adults in self isolation.
