Early Years Child Development Team

The Early Years Development Team (EYDT) provides an integrated approach to the assessment, management and transition of children with physical disabilities, speech, language and communication needs or developmental delay. The team focuses on working with children who are under 5 alongside their families and will see children at home, in children’s centres and in health centres. The Team will also monitor all children with neurological disorders.

The Team provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention, including SLT parent-child interaction therapy and a pre-school language unit based at the Northern Health Centre for children with significant speech, language and communication needs.

The team provides three specialist clinics: Physical disability;  Developmental delay and Down Syndrome; Specific Language Impairment

The team will provide early support and advice, sign-posting into education and social care and support the transition into school.
