Chance UK

Chance UK: 'Explore and Empower' programme

Chance UK is a family early intervention service. We operate a range of programmes across London - please check our website for more details.

Our Explore & Empower programme provides 1:1 mentoring for children aged 5-11 years with behavioural challenges, alongside support for their parentcarers. Mentors and children meet weekly for 9 months and work in a solution-focused way on child-centered goals and projects. Parentcarers are supported with 1:1 contacts, group work, social groups, as well as access to our 'A Space To Breathe' parenting programme. Chance UK also offer group workshops, fun family activities, and specialist support topics for our families.

The Chance UK's Explore & Empower programme is most effective with children that have an age-equivalent level of verbal comprehension, communication and self-reflection skills to engage fully with our programme. Our programme's key elements include solution-focused talking tools (such as imagining a different future and exploring in detail the possibilities within this imagined siutation; identifying their own exceptions to their challenging behaviour, or what they did to prevent a situation escalating further) and behavioural management strategies.
