Fly Tipping

You can now report fly-tipping online using the Clean Islington app, which is available for free for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone via app stores.

Fly-tipping is "the illegal/unlawful deposit of any waste onto land with no licence to accept waste". It includes anything from general household waste to fridges, sofas, mattresses, garden waste, rubble and tyres.

It is an offence to fly-tip any material and our Street Management Officers regularly prosecute fly-tippers. The officer will make an assessment, but for serious offences fines can be up to £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment (or both) if convicted in a magistrates' court.

Islington Council removes any fly tipped waste, except from private land within 24 hours of it being reported.
