The Children's Audiology Service

The Children’s Tier 2 Audiology Service is provided to all children and young people in Islington between the ages of 6 months and 19 years, if still in education and has developmental problems or a disability where there are concerns about hearing problems requiring audiological assessments.

We accept referrals from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, GP, School Nurse, Health Visitor and other Allied Health Professionals who may be involved with the child, such as a Speech and Language Therapist or Paediatrician.

The Children’s Audiology Service based at the Northern Health Centre is a secondary level service which provides a fully comprehensive service in audiovestibular medicine for children and young people. We assess, treat and monitor children’s hearing in accordance with national standards.

Please see ‘The Hearing Clinic - A Parent’s Guide’ for what to expect at your first appointment.

We transfer children and young people who we identify with permanent sensori-neural hearing loss onto a more specialist (tertiary) paediatric setting based at the Nuffield Centre in Kings Cross for further assessment and management.

We offer Paediatric assessments clinics at the Northern Health Centre, 580 Holloway Road, London, N7 6LB and at our outreach clinic at Hornsey Rise Health Centre, Hornsey Rise, London N19 3YU.
