Lunch Bunch Summer 2021
This summer, we have an exciting Lunch Bunch programme of free fun food activities for Islington families. We are here to help you all get active, and cook and eat healthy meals together! There will be no cost for ingredients.
Lunch Bunch will be running during the summer school holidays and will be offered as part of a variety of activities that are running across the borough.
We will provide:
- A new recipe each week over the summer holiday (available from all Lunch Bunch activities, leisure centres, libraries and downloadable from this page)
- Recipe videos on Islington YouTube channel
- Virtual Family Kitchen cook along (single sessions)
- Virtual Family Kitchen cooking programme (4 sessions)

Our fun summer Lunch Bunch programme is for you and your child(ren) aged 5 - 11 years. It takes place virtually on the following dates. Come and cook lunch with us. All sessions will be running from 10.30 - 12.00.
- Session 1: Date: Tuesday 27 July
- Session 2: Date: Thursday 29 July
- Session 3: Date: Tuesday 3 August
- Session 4: Date: Thursday 5 August
We also be running weelkly virtual cook–along sessions (via Zoom). Suitable for families with children aged 5 - 11. Join one or more sessions as you like. Each session we will be cooking lunch together following the recipe published that week. Each session will be running from 10.30 - 12.30

- Week 3: Monday 9 August
- Week 4: Tuesday 17 August
- Week 5: Thursday 26 August
It’s a fun way to cook with your children and learn new, healthy recipes!
We will provide free ingredients to take part in the programme and cook along sessions!
Email us to book a place on the programme or any of the cook-along sessions. You'll be receive an automatic reply with a form to complete.

Family Kitchen is a cooking course with healthy lifestyle messages that has been designed to help families with children aged 2 to 11 to make healthy lifestyle choices to 'feel good and live well'. Parent and children attend a weekly programme together.
Families for Life sessions
Families for Life focus more on healthy lifestyle messages with minimal food preparation.
During the Covid-19 lockdown programmes are being run via zoom or telephone sessions.
These are one-off sessions covering a range of topics such as eating well at home, breakfast ideas and hidden sugars, understanding labels and portion sizes and staying active at home. Fill out the booking form to arrange a telephone conversation about a topic relevant to you and we will get back to you to arrange a suitable date and time.
Virtual Family Kitchen weekly programme
These are run via zoom with new programmes starting every half term. Each session you'll cook a simple meal together and includes useful information, such as how to deal with fussy eating and label reading. Each session is an hour and a half. We run programmes for families with children in early years or in primary. Follow the link to find out when the programmes are held:
How to book
To book on a programme, please email us. You will be sent a form to complete which asks for your contact details and about the ages of your children.
To refer a family, please email. Please make sure to use a secure email system if you are emailing us from outside of the council. You will be sent a form to complete with details about the family, your contact details and the name of the family's GP.
