Haemoglobinopathy Counselling Service
This service is provided across Islington for all members of the community who are healthy carriers of an unusual haemoglobin and for individuals and families affected by major haemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassaemia major. Services include counselling, dental services, contraception, pre- and post-operative screening and home visits to children. Screening for individuals, families and women requesting prenatal diagnosis of pregnancy can be arranged through the counselling service. Health promotion is available to all community groups and staff, as well as training for professionals.
