For those wishing to become a childminder in Islington, the Early Years and Childcare team offer a 'pathway' to becoming registered with Ofsted. The support provided is a mixture of essential information, training and ongoing advice including:
Come to a short information session and meet the Childminding and Childcare Information Officer who will explain what is involved in becoming a childminder. You can ask questions and find out about support available to you. The Family Information Service, FIS, runs sessions every month, the next session is on
Wednesday 23 May 2018, 10-11am at Hornsey Road Children's Centre. You don't need to book to attend the session just come to the children's centre at 10am.
Attend the 3 hour pre-registration briefing to receive essential information about the Ofsted registration process, Islington training and support for prospective childminders and the Childcare Business Grants Scheme. This is a free session held at Laycock Centre every term, the next briefing is on

Islington Childminding Training
This is a 3 day introductory training course available 3 times per year, cost £210. The course supports prospective childminders in Islington preparing for their Ofsted registration. The next course is on

The purpose of the new Childcare Business Grants Scheme is to help newly registered childminders with the cost of starting their business. The grants scheme is funded by the Department for Education and is due to end by March 2018.
